It has been my privilege to serve as the President of the Bishop Ward Class of 1970. Although some 45 years ago I didn’t realize the length of the term of office, I can truly say it has been a labor of love. Welcome to our brand new website! With the 45th Reunion planning in full swing, we wanted to broaden our reach and have a “go-to” place for all of the latest news and activities around the reunion. But the site has a greater purpose of course, it will serve to archive past reunions, and provide general information about our wonderful Class of 1970.
Any group of people has its own unique character (and characters). It is much more than a collection of individuals. We bonded together to form a dynamic class where the final product is much greater than the sum of its parts. We didn’t choose each other but were chosen for each other. In Wyandotte County if you weren’t poor, you knew people who were. We were grounded and knew what was really important in life. Sure we were normal young adults and loved to have fun but the guidance of our parents and teachers at Ward gave us the support to be successful in life.
Now 45 years have passed and we are looking forward to another terrific reunion. We have all gotten older and everyone has had joys and triumphs. Also in life we have all had our trials and tribulations. However, when we get back together there is an acceptance, camaraderie, and a love for each other. It is like we are in a time warp resistant to the erosion of time and the separation of space. The Bishop Ward Class of 1970 is arguably the greatest in the 100+ year history of the school.
I am proud and humbled to be a part of this special group of people. I want to again thank the reunion committee for their wonderful support and hard work. Our reunions will always be in Wyandotte County where our strong roots gave us the foundation to be the best we could be.
